They are invading my mind. O Anyhow, I came to this place to look for the rare orchid Epipogium aphyllum, but it was absent this year. But instead I found these three and other cute stuff.
gee! you have Epipogium where you live, the best I've got is Epipactis gigantea, I need to fly to canada to even see a Corallorhiza, those are tricky little things.
Yeah, but the E. aphyllum is quite rare, but I think it's mostly overlooked, due to being able to lay dormant for more then 5 years. It's more common in the northern parts though. I think it will prove to be the hardest one to find in my quest to have seen all the Swedish ones. Ah. Those damn Collorhiza, I've seen C. trifida 3 or 4 times, but they are near impossible to find. XD
wanna talk about pain in the butt dormancy? I was looking for Isortias in northern Georgia once and turns out the have a 12 year resting period between blooms and well, look like little tree seedlings between those. it's easy to see them when they do show up, a 8 inch pink and white flower is pretty hard to miss.
One species, Calypso bulbosa, I yet to see in bloom. But that one is also fantastic. I saw its leaves a month or so after the flowering period, watching other flowers in the same area.
Ah. Those damn Collorhiza, I've seen C. trifida 3 or 4 times, but they are near impossible to find. XD
Can you give the latin name, can't seem to find anything by just Isortia/Isortias.
